trustA Poem by dovetaileralone together...no armor...no restraints…trust… unbarred the door ~ unzipped thick hide… you’ve trusted me ~ asked me inside you sized me up ~ my words you’ve heard so hard to trust ~ I know…absurd the past is past ~ it fades away its memories ~ are here to stay you’ve let me in ~ I’m honor-bound that you would have ~ me hang around there is a beat ~ that resonates a tie that binds ~ that consecrates “be still…my heart ~ he will not harm as others have ~ his smile will warm…” “your hob-nailed boots ~ leave by the door… you will not need ~ them anymore…” “my heart is scarred ~ it’s been a mess don’t touch the walls ~ the paint is fresh…” “take what you will ~ this body’s used bones have been broken ~ love refused…” “love can be cruel ~
“hate” I should say… I have survived ~ I thrive today…” I look at you ~ my soul
is moved I’m in your heart ~ your trust is proved “I will not harm ~ dare raise a hand give cause for tears ~ on
shifting sand…” “I’ll be your friend ~ you will rely… our souls will blend ~ I won’t deny…” with footfalls soft ~ and gentle touch I’ll hold your heart ~ I’ll love you much… no one would blame ~ you’re hiding here eschewing world ~ and all men fear I will not chafe ~ will not subdue I will not harm ~ I will imbue I’ll prop you up ~ if you
should fall absorb your tears ~ I’ll dry them all sit at your feet ~ your silence hear the antidote ~ to all you fear… this choice you’ve made ~ you’ll never rue of making me ~ a part of you I’ve watched you daily ~ from afar read all your words ~ for there you are not in the words ~ but in between on linen white ~ your soul is seen… so here I am ~ you close the door no need to fear ~ not anymore… © 2010 dovetailerFeatured Review
