Misunderstanding

A notion formed within my mind

         a delicious plan for future time.

The thought complete; to my mouth sent

         and from my lips this message went.

It journeyed forth and reached you ear

         and by responding look, I feared

that message clearly was received

         but my intent was misperceived.

Then from my mouth, more words came hence,

         a protest for my innocence;

Yes, to my words your view be lent

         but truly, your view wasn’t meant.

Your eyes flashed anger; subtle hurt

         and from then on, our words were curt!

In love, our meeting planned and set

         and yet, this ending I regret.

So now, I lonely sit and muse

         about what words I now could use

to reach your heart and calm your fear;

         to reassure you I am near.

Dare I to try send words again?

         Inadequate ...they seemed so then.

Ironic, that words must be used

         since they, last spoken, were confused.

Less love for you was not my drift!

         No hinting of subconscious rift!

Or that my love has colder grown,

a victim of some force unknown!

Or would I ever think the lie

         that fallen leaves on our ground lie;

a testament of better days

         when greener leaves drank golden rays!

Of all the lovely things we share,

         the thing of which I’m most aware

is that my feelings for you grow;

         they fill my head, my heart, my soul!

Never would I have you doubt

         my ardor; what I’m all about

or ever give you cause to fear

         that my love’s depth is not quite clear!

Nothing could more precious be

         that all of you you offer me:

your love, your lust, your body prime,

         your loving gaze...your sultry time

and never have I felt so free

         to be myself when you’re with me

and evermore, I long to be

         a part of your serenity!
