arrivalA Poem by dovetailermy grandsonarrival you arrive today long expected but not unloved… soon the gates to your haven will be breached and all that has been home will be history… cocooned in the womb… cradled in the very heart of the one who has held…hurt…and will cry tears of joy when you are finally in her arms… you are the child of promise… all await you expectantly… there is a buzz of electricity through us all who wait to love but none so much as the one who has borne you all these months… felt you move… been the scapegoat of your soft insistent kicks… felt you grow…inch by inch sacrificed perfection of body so you could be… …perfect… soon…you will endure the travail of birth… run the gauntlet to the light where you will see her loving eyes… see her hair…mussed in childbirth… remember…you’re not seeing her at her best… you’ll feel her cheeks…wet with tears…against your own feel her skin that is warm... trembling… feel her touching you …caressing softly… counting your fingers and toes… she’ll proudly note the rolls of flesh on your limbs and the beauty of your tiny frame as you writhe and rail against the cold… she’ll hear your cries as you breath your first breath and watch your flesh turn from bluish tan to soft pink… your healthy blush will bring a sigh of relief to all who witness your birth… your will be held as you’ve been held… loved as you’ve been loved… see the world of brightness and color for the very first time hear the voice of the one who has sung to you in the night… as she lays you on her chest… as you take her n*****s in your lips and drink… you will feel the drumbeat of the heart that has resounded in the womb… the heart that has loved you from the very beginning… and you will sleep cocooned in love… and soft flannel… © 2010 dovetailer |
