" Resurrected Proof "

" Resurrected Proof "

A Poem by dougspoetry
"

The resurrection of Jesus Christ.

"

When the sun crested on the tomb that day,

The first thing in sight, a stone rolled away.

Faintest footprints from the sepulcher stand,

As a portrait of life drawn in the sand.

Beams of light dance on the burial shroud,

Showing its empty, lifting death's dark cloud.

Three days of mourning turned to victory,

Now mankind's gracious benedictory.

Jubilant faces amazed and perplexed,

Jesus is risen, faith's visual cortex.

Death swallowed up by sacrificial pledge,

Belief in Christ, takes us over sin's hedge.

Grace to bring sons and daughters to glory,

To rescue His sheep, Jesus life's story.

Resurrected Proof to back up His claim,

Eternal life, if you call on His name.

The power of love which death won't consume,

He is risen, will your heart give Him room?

Now seen in the lives of His believers,

Jesus Christ's love, awaitng receivers.

The simple two-line stanzas have a subtle complexity that I find very enjoyable. I'm always delighted to find writings dealing with the Burial and Resurrection, it reminds that worlds collided on the cross. Very good.

Wow...Incredible. What a great portrayal of faith. Growing up in a Catholic family and going to Catholic schools, I've heard the story of the resurrection hundreds of times in my life, but I've never heard it told quite like this. There's something sincere about it. Beautiful piece. Keep up the good work!

I think you did a wonderful job of using words that play on storie and parable of the Bible. They flowed, it was not forced I liked that. Also, I felt that you clearly glorified Christ. "When I be lifted up I will draw all men to me."

A word of caution. I would mix a variety of topics so that more poeple will be exsposed to the glory of God. If you only write in Christian Genra, those who need him most will be repelled.

Food for thought. I would like to read more of your work, you have talent in my opinion. Thanks for sharing, Barb

I like it. Especially the last line:

Now seen in the lives of His believers,

Jesus Christ's love, awaitng receivers.

Simple, yet there is this strong feeling reserved in these last lines

Christians are the ambassadors of Jesus Christ.

Great work!
