Bicycle Built for Two

Bicycle Built for Two

A Poem by Doug

2001: A Space Odyssey was the muse for this poem.

Daisy Bell’s Monolith

Forgot her song during a set list;

Prudency skipped a beat

So Alienevolution packaged a baby.

Daisy Bell’s Monolith

Missed her arcane cue;

Us civilians

Should never know the truth.

Daisy Bell’s Monolith

Forgot the song she was supposed to sing;

If her memory hadn’t blundered

She could have saved all humanity.

Daisy Bell’s Monolith

Lost the brass tacks;

They popped up prematurely

They just slipped through the cracks.

Daisy Bell’s Monolith

Forgot her programmed words;

Make it to Jupiter-

Make it to Jupiter-

He drifted through space

Like a despondent lover;

Carrying apes

Rediscovered.
