Long Nights (Recovery takes Time)

Long Nights (Recovery takes Time)

A Poem by Doug

You looked like a stray dog

Perched on the bench outside,

And I could hardly see you through all the fog

But I knew it was you,

So I told you to come in my edifice.

And I said, “Sabrina my friend

Close the door as you come in,

It’s cold outside,

And nothing makes sense.”

And you looked me in the eye and you said,

“You stupid f**k,

Why do you always need help?

You’re just an unstable c**t,

Go hang yourself in the bathroom you punk.”

And I couldn’t believe what you told me

So I asked you to write me a poem,

And you did,

And it was about a girl

Who killed her friend to find solace.

But I didn’t ask you to leave,

I felt tranquility with your company

Even if that meant you would just laugh at me.

But then you said,

“I kid my friend, I love you as my brother,

All your problems will go away because in time

Every man will recover”

And I looked you in the eye and said,

“Thank you.”
