AloneA Poem by DoubtReality
Smiles only seal the deal when answers are unknown.
The phone is ringing endlessly; I guess that you’re not home. Slanting light reminds me that time continues on. Shadows simply show me that what we had is gone. Alone is only lonely when you add a why. Questions never help us they only make us cry. We’re all soldiers in a war that isn’t being fought, all buyers of a product that can’t ever be bought. All players in a game that only death can win, we’ll all sit on spinning barstools, eating peanuts, drinking gin. Leaves are floating down, falling from the weeping willow. Tears are leaking now, leaving stains upon my pillow. Standing in a crowded place with people passing by. Standing on the street, alone, yearning for the sky. © 2011 DoubtRealityReviews
