Thoughts for the ThoughtlessA Story by Paige L. Brooks (Call me Andy)I started thinking about this in the shower. There's an old saying that goes something like, "Treat others the way you want to be treated." Think about it. Everyday people discriminate each other, bully each other, we threaten one another, and countless other things. Putting this into mind... we seem pretty darn stupid. Then, I was thinking; we are are "The land of the free and the home of the brave". But, are we really as free as we try to make it seem? We constantly mock, discriminate, and down right humiliate people who aren't of the same religion or mind set or the same color as we are or those who have two moms or two dads or look differently than we do, act differently than we do, speak a different language or perhaps like something different than we do and we call ourselves Human? We call ourselves American? We preach so many things that go against many of the things we ourselves also say or think on a daily basis. I don't understand it. Must we be so hateful? I may be young but, that doesn't mean I don't exactly see or understand what is going on around me. Everyday we go against everything we believe in; everything that we have declared and said. We come up with countless little statements and sayings like, "Don't judge a book by its cover" and "Do unto others what you would do unto you" and "What goes around comes around.", Yet we don't seem to take heed on what we've said. We expect the people we've said these things to to do what we would or would not do on our own, but then perhaps they were lead into something totally against it and we don't even seem to notice or care. Its all one big ball of confusion and idiocy. Its just something to think about really. This is just my opinion. I'm not saying you have to listen or believe me or trust me. Heck, you don't even have to read this. Its just something to think about. One perspective on the goings on. Thoughts for the thoughtless, A mind for the mindless, or maybe even a heart for the heartless... who knows. I'm just one voice that has learned to speak out. © 2013 Paige L. Brooks (Call me Andy) |
