THE LETTERA Poem by doreen cyrHEART BREAK OF FIRST LOVEYour letter came today. I put into my left hand top pocket And ran through the vine yard. To the big tree where we used to meet. Excitement overwhelming me. It has been so long since you left.
Hands shaking, I tare the envelope, I love you so much, I hope your coming home. I begin to read with anticipation, Then I stare in disbelief, it can't be. You found someone else there? What about us and our love.
I sit in shocked silence, staring. No longer comprehending the words. I think you say your sorry. I think you say that I was to young. I think you say for me to move on. All I can do is sit and cry.
