No lies, just the truth!A Poem by doraPeople lie because they can, people fail to tell the truth because of how strong it is.
No lies, just the truth
This time, just the truth It is freezing in Nairobi, People are dying in Turkana & Somalia Mothers are leaving their children by the road They crawl into Kenya looking for food Some make it here, when they are long gone People say we are doomed Some say that Africa suffers Some think of all the pain Africans endure I wonder who cares, I wonder who doesn't No lies, just the truth This time, just the truth. I hear people laughing The children play in streets, The parents get home from work A meal would cost roughly three dollars Now it costs five dollars-for a whole family Some say it is living below the poverty line What is a poverty line? Show it to me, for what I see is people People who care to smile and hope People who care to share the little they have People who are praying for others They have, others lack So they pray-isn't the truth ugly? No lies, just the truth This time, just the truth You choose to see what you want to I choose to see what is here You choose to believe what you hear I choose to believe in what is to come I choose not because I want to, but because I can I spot my tough kinky hair Straighten it, won't you? I won't!I love my afro-kinky hair It reminds me of what it feels to belong It also reminds me of what you do not see I see the stars at night, now at times I see tall buildings I see the moon and the stars No lies, just the truth There is so much to pain and suffering I see the people who hurt but smile, What do you see? I want the truth and not lies. © 2011 doraReviews
