Angel

Angel

A Poem by Mariel Lantero

She lay there peacefully while I was going insane,
It's hard to hide pain but I'm sure it will fade,
I know that she's gone but I feel very mundane,
Losing a loved one makes me feel like a helpless slave
Why she was taken makes no sense to me,
But maybe he needed her more than we

Finally it's over, we can move on,
It's over, it's gone, but I can't carry on,
I knew this was coming for so very long,
It's hard to continue being this strong.
Strangely I feel worse than before,
I keep trying but there is no cure.
Confused on whom to go to when i'm not feeling at bay,
For she was the one I went to every day.

To this day I will remember her as brave,
For everything she went through she will be okay,
The angels accepted her and now I can say,
She's safe with the clouds and making my day,
To finish this rhyme i do need to say,
Time heals all, and I'm ready to wait.

Hello there!

The writing is absolutely gorgeous! I especially love how you set the poem's three parts--but the last line was the killer for me. I was already hooked, but then that line came and I was trapped. There are a lot of people who don't believe that to be true--that time can't fix everything. But the idea of leaving the healing process to fate--especially given how the poem focuses on her being an Angel--is very fitting and poetic.

I truly enjoyed reading this--thank you for sharing!
