Dear AbyssA Poem by Shadin Manning
Dear Abyss,
I feared you You’ve visited me in my sleep, in the mere nightBack when I was juvenile and ignorant of your beauty At night I heard you knock on my door I never answered I heard of your merciless You take everything away And it never returns… As I aged I noticed that the black you wear Is not a symbol of my final destination But a simply a promise that I will be resurrected in your vast blackness That is not malicious but delicious and full of nutrition No one should fear you, we could all use your nourishment Thank you for wanting to take me there, you’re a saint. See you soon. © 2012 Shadin Manning |
