Cocoon

Cocoon

A Poem by Shadin Manning

Compress and suppress

My sweet innocence

Making me to conform, into this conventional, tradition world

Subside all of the things that made me a beautiful butterfly

Flying so gleeful, flying so graceful

Put me back in my cocoon

Reverse me back into that weak caterpillar, you once knew

Deprive me of all the freedoms the universe has given me

I see you smiling so wide

So proud of me

So pretentious of this caterpillar you created

The caterpillar that keeps dreaming of freedom again

His attempts to escape were only in vain.
