Bumble Bee From Hell

Bumble Bee From Hell

A Poem by Shadin Manning

I'm lying on the floor in the daughting dark, while the rest of the world is asleep

My mind is more awake, more aware of how you never really cared

Your fibbing words buzzing around my head pointing and laughing at me

Haunting and taunting me.

Your sting made the warm blood in my veins now shiver to ice

Ice colder than that shadow you call a heart

Selfish deeds make you smile

 The most graceful smile I’ve ever seen coming from those ugly lips

The lips that whispered sweet honey in my ears, making my ears tingle with satisfactory

You spoke about the attraction;

How I made you see those white flashes you only see from angels

You spoke about your love;

You said it was unconditional, even if my road ended on a cliff, you’ll jump off with me

You spoke about dreams;

You always told me to never give up on my talent and how much I inspired you

It tasted so sweet

It was the first time I realized my ears had a tongue

But artificial honey is what you produced

Honey infected with poison is what you injected

You've left me to feel dumbfounded and rejected

You bumble bee from Hell

I’m still lying on the floor in the daunting dark, while the rest of the world is asleep.

My mind is most awake, most aware of how you never really cared

Your fibbing words still buzzing around my head pointing and laughing at me

Haunting and taunting me.

I'm now sick to my stomach

Foul bile fills my being

Ready to vomit your lies, your memory, your existence

Mama always said too much sweets aren’t good for you.

No words could be more true.

I like that you made this other person a bumblebee, to further emphasize his dealings with honey.
Perhaps consider making more of your metaphor, rather than just slipping it in?There are so many parallels in life to draw on that make understanding certain ideas so much more understandable.
Words say one thing, but connotations/embedded understanding say so much more.

And, I love that you tied in a "Mama knows best," phrase.
^^
Nice piece - dark & unfortunate - but, nice, nonetheless.
