hush - 11/04/21A Poem by Dom
Something sweet,
a cherry tree, bears fruit for me again. Please say you love me, say you’d touch me, keep me carefully - canals keep calling me again, but quietly, now you know me wholly. Pull sadness from me gently, known from nothing, really. You know me as I know myself, but kindly. Something in me; the defiance you think you see; recognises you too. Numb everywhere except where it’s prickly, birds wake around me and I become less and less of the same world, light melts on the yellow wall, without you here to ground me. I think I’ll always need you when I’m not with you. I’m scared I’ll wake some warm and terrible morning to find I dreamed you. © 2021 Dom |
