Just Too Easy

Just Too Easy

A Poem by nicoleyoley781

In the darkness I sit,

Waiting for the sunrise to begin.

My fingers are cold in my mittens.

This must be the punishment for my sin.

My sin defines me as I sit here and wait.

I cannot escape being crushed by my thoughts.

As the sun rises so does the weight,

Of everything I’ve been taught.

“It’s too soon” people say,

Well what do they know?

I drive back towards the freeway,

Almost home.

very touching, and well written. I interpret this as a young woman girl in the transition to women hood but with a wounded conscience. my thoughts are not to ignore your conscience, but rather learn from it as we all must learn from ours.
