Shoes

Shoes

A Poem by donny ingraham

Step into my shoes
Know the places I've been
Those that hate me for no reason
All my life
My eyes have seen nothing but struggle
City streets have captured my soul
Haunting me are memories
They won't let me go
The songs I sing
Songs of hopes and dreams
Within this darkness
Light has yet to find me
Food upon my table
Barely sustains
Off work to work again
My hands bleed
My soul knows pain
Yet I step into the world each day
