Chasing the Dream

Chasing the Dream

A Poem by donny ingraham

 The days of my youth

seems as if a distant memory

also a nightmare that haunts me in the day time

 Yes there were good times

but there were also tears

many rivers were cried

Seeing lives extinguished in their prime

families fighting to see tomorrow

struggles are never recorded

 Watching dreams fade

people fighting to keep the little they possess

preachers promising dreams of a better time

 Politicians oppressing

today's thief

stealing with paper

 Tearing down communities

imminent domain

tore down memories

 Walmart closed local stores

it has beome a cancer

the places known are no more

 Seen only as a dream

some call nightmares

the people who suffer in the America dream

People lose so much for modern growth, The American dream has its cost and some pay for it while others don't know it.

Good stuff you write. We have let ourselves be seduced by Corporate Large. I fear the dream has vanished...
