Still Human

Still Human

A Poem by donny ingraham

To the ones trapped in the struggle

dedicated to the struggle

those forced to live by muscle

Dreams extinguished

freedom traded in for something worst

a mark against your name

Praying for a second chance

but the church turns them away

followers of Christ cast stones

Trying to bury their mistake

background checks unearth it

turned away from jobs

Refused the opportunity to live

reminded of the past

time machines bring them back

to the humanity gave up on them

Yet they are still human

able to bleed

but none recognize kinsmanship

A deep poem. Nicely done. I really liked it.
