Chasing the thrill

Chasing the thrill

A Poem by yourstruly

Always been level headed
goal oriented, far sighted.

Sitting here planning and working
for a better future with more
planning and working

A crowd with no jealousy or competition
i've lost my self motivation

nothing is driving me to succeed
when there is no thrill, no one to beat

Suddenly a thought, to walk away
into the unknown, off the beaten track
exhilarated by an idea of an adventure
or maybe just attracted to danger

Mama told me, the fire will burn, don't be a victim
but i always liked to played with the tip of the flame

Papa said do the right thing and i feel like getting inked
addicted to the substance that increases the dopamine
drinking that thing, makes me dizzy and grin

One day i woke up, to the sunlight so bright
A ray from the window that pierced straight through my heart
with it's purity, and questioned the limits of my curiosity
reminding me of my responsibility, to the mission i swore to complete

Off i went to the tracks i strayed from
Amused that i was no longer forlorn
a new sense of purpose replaced
a part of my heart that only found solace
when in a daze

Sometimes, Chasing the thrill
makes me realise
that the world needs some necessary evil

It all worked out to fulfil the grand plan
that fate had in store for you
at the end of your track.
