Creature of the NightA Poem by Miss Evergreen
As the moon had risen into the night sky,
It filled me full of fright. For I knew that I would soon hear the cry Of the Creature of the night. The Creature would soon be out to play, And her jaws would be out to bite. This Creature is not of any legend, Yet she still fills me full of fright. All though there are many stories to hear About the Creature of the night. Oh she is real, I have seen her kind Fur grey, eyes yellow, and fangs that shone pearl white I knew the Creature would be coming soon, And it filled me full of fright. But I needed to see her, take just a look At the Creature of the night. I had watched her come hunt at this very spot And my heart was taking flight. Because in the shadows, I saw her approach. The Creature of the night. She slowly came to where I was Fur gleaming in the moonlight She did not howl, or bark, or growl Yet she filled me full of fright. The forest clearing felt like a new home Standing with the Creature of the night. And as she was looking to see what the she-wolves see, In the distance, we heard a howl of fright. Calling back, she returned the call with no fright. And took one last non-threatening look at me. And then, as she ran into the moonlight, I felt glad that I saw the thing that I saw, for I had met The Creature of the night. © 2012 Miss Evergreen |
