sound

A Poem by D. Mansfield

The sound of a train, in the middle of the night.
The sound of a scream, in broad daylight
the frantic sound, of a little dog, barking,
a downed power line on the ground, sparking.

The sound of concentration,
the sound of need.
The sounds of bells and whistles,
 to show when you succeed.

the sound of contentment,
the sound of doom,
the feeling in your stomach,
when she walks, in the room.

The sound of an oak, log splitting,
the sound of despair,
having your heart, ripped out of your chest,
with all your friends there.

sound of panic ,
sound of rage,
hand me those keys,
let me out, of this cage.
