Rage is Grown in Darkness

Rage is Grown in Darkness

A Poem by D. Mansfield
"

old poem I thought id try again

"

RAGE IS GROWN IN DARKNESS in cold little rooms

by people who've abandoned fear and it won't return soon.

Hardened to a dull edge, sharpened with age

waiting patiently to be let out of their cage.

Your hungry stomach growls, its been weeks since the last meal

they've damaged your brain, so now you cant feel.

coming awake slowly now, sweating in the cage.

still just a prisoner, trying to summon rage.

A short poem, but even in little words it delivers something much larger. The poem aids the mind in painting a picture of blunt emotions and confining spaces, otherwise under the umbrella of being locked away. Nicely done, I really enjoyed reading this.

I really like this story. It's short, but it helps convey how being locked away somewhere starts to affect your brain.
