![]() Little Green BoorA Poem by D. Mansfield![]() an old poem I ran across![]() I met a little Leprechaun, his name was Sam. He was laying on a rock, with a stone in his hand. When I walked up, he frowned, and looked at me, Threw the stone at my head, and dashed under a tree. I was shocked, a little offended, and taken aback, By his rude behavior, his lack of tact.
“Hey Leprechaun,” I said with a roar “Come out here now, you green little Boor” I don't speak the leprechaun language, But I think he cursed at me, and scurried behind a cabbage.
Cabbage is one, I'm really not fond So when he hid behind one, it didn't take me long, I took one big step, and snatched him in my hand. He spit in my eye, I dropped him, and then he ran.
Seeing a leprechaun, run from behind, was kind of a mix Between a grasshopper and a cantaloupe rind. I started to laugh, and then thought better. Went home, down the lane, and had my dinner.
Fell asleep , before you knew it was the next day. Out in the yard, on a bale of hay, 5 little leprechauns, were dancing away. While they danced, their little jig, I pulled out my bourbon, and unscrewed the lid.
And then what came over, us I really don't know When I woke, one was laying precariously, on my left toe. And on his knee, was another s little head. The other two, we found in the shed.
They dance, they drink, they hide under bushes. They get so drunk, they fall on their little tushes. But most are good, little guys when they drink Sometimes you'll find one, passed out in the sink. © 2025 D. Mansfield |
