Topples and Falls

Topples and Falls

A Poem by D. Mansfield

The world is racing down biblical paths
Nobody is happy with what they have.
We sit back and watch As the machine is being dismantled.
We couldn't fix it because our energy was poorly channeled.

Lulled to sleep by the evening news,
too lazy to come up with our own life views
As our great nation topples and falls,
be thinking about our fathers, fighting for us all.

We have on ly just buried the greatest generation,
Still just bare dirt on the mounds.
As the fighting starts, without a plan
The sons of those warriors, are no where to be found.
