Riding the pony

Riding the pony

A Poem by D. Mansfield

He wants to ride the pony,
He wants to pet the dog.
Didn't have pets at home,
All these years he's been in a fog.

Wants to ride the pony,
Wants to pet the dog,
What would've become of him,
if he wasn't on the grog.

He wants to own the pony,
At home he wants the dog,
Won't get up and walk him,
Drugs make him sleep like a log.

He's riding the white pony,
Even as we speak.
Riding it right on out of here,
His death wish now complete.

He lived, only in preparation to die.
Had a chip on his shoulder,
And a patch on his eye.
I always think of him at night,
Looking to the sky.

living a life of wanting to do but never doing eventually causes one to not care about breathing...
We need to ride that pony and pet the dog while we can....might keep us alive a little longer.
