Narcotics perfect dose

Narcotics perfect dose

A Poem by D. Mansfield

The two way mirror, in the back of my eye
Allows me to see through, your ugly disguise.

All shiney and warm you insinuate,
Into my life, like it will not wait.

I allow you to be near, but never close.
Enjoy you like a narcotics perfect dose.

Alone when I met you, alone I remain,
To you I know, it's all the same.

So enjoy the time, that's given to you
Take what's offered, don't be blue.

Your time will come, but not with me,
I wish you well, and the world to see.

this is a very chilling work. i have been in situations where someone is in my life but i know they dont have any empathy for me. i just humoured them and waited til they got bored of me, which they did. it's kind of funny how many people underestimate me. they think the can take me for a ride, but i always keep one foot in and one foot out. while its disturbing, the persona gets the last laugh in this piece. i guess thats as close to a happy ending as things go.
