"Do it now"

"Do it now"

A Poem by D. Mansfield
"

Suicide is the subject matter. And no, I am fine. A long time ago they gave me a pill for that.

"
Use your turn signals,
Sound the horn.
Stay between the lines,
If you do it, they will mourn.

So when they say "drive it yourself,
Do it now",
It gets confusing,
You can't somehow.

Been plotting and planning,
All these years.
" I will do it",
You shout through the tears.

"Do it now" is all they will say.
You have the keys,
And they walk away

It's so backwards, you think,
As you grab, the wheel.
But you just can't drive today,
That's how you feel.

All alone, you have to decide,
Hurry now, not much time
You pull to the curb, give a man a ride.
And just like that, all the fear subsides.

Driven so many miles, can't get any rest.
Listen to them shout, they're putting you to the test.
