Melting Beer CansA Story by D. Mansfield
Budwieser cans melting, in a three day old fire,
The rain thats fallen, for the last two hours, sizzles and pops. Three of four, remain, drenched, depressed, not wanting it to end. Since Friday, it has burned, and crackled and sent sparks and embers, gently floating to the heavens. Our sleeping bags, right on the ground, circling the fire. We chose cooler, instead of tent, fire for lantern, provided light. Hundreds of beer cans, had melted in the fire since we discovered its ability. Drugs all gone, but still high as can be. Monday had wakened us, with pouring rain. Nobody even considered leaving. Not because it was Monday, or the rain. It was a high, that smoldered, and had to burn out, before navigating back to reality, and responsibilities. © 2024 D. MansfieldReviews
