When I woke

When I woke

A Poem by D. Mansfield

I knew it was permanent,
when I woke.
we had seen our last
of each other.

How desperately,
I have missed you.
I long for
Friend and brother.

Such heartfelt wishes for the one lost. We break worldly ties but we cannot break the spiritual bonds, hard as we may try. A poem that's small yet so big on the message.

anyway it got my atention
I love the idea that you put in the first lines of waking up and realizing that something is permanent, final, so sad, and the yearning that remains. Such a short poem, and such powerful feelings.

Norma, I thank you for those so kind words and thank you for taking the time to read it.
Last lines are intensely emotional. Good writing.
