Autumn

Autumn

A Poem by D. Mansfield

Days that are slight in stature.
Winds that are colder with age.
Trees showing off shamelessly,
Darkness decends with a rage.

A few lines can mean a lot...you have portrayed autumn with vivid color images, both light and dark, but I get a feeling of dark more than light...as if someone is in sorrow .."darkness descends with a rage"....
a nice metaphor...Thank you for sharing
Warmly, B

Thank you Thomas, I appreciate you
this really captures the seasonal blues. 'Winds that are colder with age,' is a great twist on the common adage 'i miss summer.' even though i prefer the cold to the heat, i can sympathise with this author. there is something gloomy about the fall, and not just the days getting shorter. having said that, the line 'Darkness decends with a rage' did ring true for me. some cold nights even i start to miss the warmer months.

Love this...
and Kelly is right, Autumn seems to inspire poets the most...especially in October and November.
The first line is so good in this piece. What an image created.

Jacob, that is high praise indeed. Thank you sir.
Is it just me, or does the season of Autumn inspire poets the most?
