Martha

Martha

A Poem by David Lucero
"

I was shuffling through papers and found this poem I wrote for my wife 20 years ago. It proves I'm no poet, but a hopeless romantic.

"

Martha

When I first saw you your eyes shined bright.

I looked to the sky and thanked God to be near you

I asked for guidance and I heard a voice say,

Go back to Martha and be with her all day.

It was not long before I asked you to marry,

but you paused and did not answer as you became wary.

Throughout the years we've had our share of fights,

but our bond remains strong and keeps us warm each night

No matter what happens our love shall keep us together.

Just believe in us and we shall not wither

David Lucero
Okay, stop laughing! Like I said, I was a hopeless romantic. My wife thinks I still am too. Give me your best shots. If I find more I'll consider posting it if it isn't too mushy.
