Some of the many things I was told, and how terrible wrong they were. You never know where people’s actions come from. You may think they come from a place of selfishness, when they are truly selfless

Maybe so
Yet I knew if I stayed
It would have only been worse
So I let him go

“If you don’t give him closure you’re a coward”
Wrong
I would never be any good for him
And he would never see that
So I made the choice
I had to go

“Do you even care how he feels?”
Yes
He deserved more
More that I could never give
Just know this
The heartbreak he feels now
Is nothing
Compared to how he’d feel
If I didn’t go

“You are so selfish”
Selfish
Would have been staying
Staying
Because he was good for me
Ignoring
That I was rotten for him
I had to go

“You never loved him”
Bullshit
I learned
How to love him from a distance
A distance
Safe for him
Because I love him
I let him go
