Halloween is TonightA Poem by DonaldThis is the second of two Halloween poems that I wrote. I hope you enjoy it.Creatures are calling, night is falling, children of the night, are crying with delight.
Children are laughing, and stories are told, of things dark and old, from tales long ago.
This is the time, that Halloween is tonight, it is a time of terror, and such fright.
Children are walking, in the dusk’s light, looking for candy, or anything dandy.
The dead are walking, werewolves are stalking, bats are flying, out to give fright.
This is that unholy night, that the dead truly arise, and jack-o-lanterns are glowing, as the stories are unfolding.
There is eerie laughter, and cider is flowing, parties are going, celebrating into the night.
Heroes are sighing, but no one is crying, the happiness is right, danger has taken flight.
For Halloween, will last but one night, there are the scary faces, and scary places to celebrate this night.
Doorbells are rung, chanting is done, trick or treat, to have some fun.
House are covered, with Halloween’s gory, spiders and scarecrows, tell the story.
Costumed attire, is the theme of the day, for whatever they fancy, so they can prey.
Ghosts are glowing, the bells are tolling, deep into the fading light, this is Halloween this very night.
There is no foreboding, when there is knowing, the pleasure lives in the light, so Happy Halloween tonight. © 2015 Donald |
