Dark and Eerie

This is a poem about Halloween which is coming up shortly.

Dark and eerie,

makes things dreary,

when a new day comes,

before it brings new light.

 

Creepy creatures,

live in the dark of the night,

are so scary,

they bring such fright.

 

Evil things come out at night,

doing deeds,

that no one likes

bring us fear at their sight.

 

The walking dead,

walks on this very night,

looking to scare,

looking for fright.

 

Vampires and ghouls,

stay just out of sight,

waiting to jump,

and scare you tonight.

 

Jack-o-lanterns,

and scarecrows too,

for this is the Devil’s night,

until the dawning of the light.

 

This happens,

but once a year,

the dead live again,

for us to fear.

 

Spiders crawl,

and make webs tonight,

making things eerie,

and scary in the night.

 

Bats may fly,

through the night,

on dark wings,

to heighten our fear tonight.

 

Creatures walks,

the streets tonight,

searching for sweets,

in the twilight.

 

A pale moon rises,

in the night sky,

bringing us wonder,

as the stars shine tonight.

 

Headstones mark,

where one may lie,

to rise up,

and say hi.

 

Tricks happen,

throughout the night,

bringing cheer,

to everyone’s delight.

 

Have no fear,

for this day of the year,

Halloween has arrived,

and have good cheer.
