All Hallows EveA Poem by DonaldThis is a little poem that I wrote about Halloween. I hope you enjoy it.A day when the dead arise, to walk one day in the moonlight, be it ghosts or ghouls, or monsters instead.
For this is the day, that they come back again, to walk among the living, as they once did.
But nowadays, kids walk the streets, going to each house, looking for treats.
Dressed up in costumes, of their favorite theme, be it monsters or fantasy, was as it seems.
Monsters of fame, creatures to blame, every sort of costume, is seen on this day.
Jack-o-lanterns, And skeletons decorate the land, Spiders and bats hang from invisible strands, Cobweb are here too and make it scary for you.
Monsters and scarecrows, guard the homes, keeping them safe, on this night so long.
With costumes on, and bags in hand, they make a round of the houses, collecting candy as they can.
Some people give a trick instead, to entertain the children, and give them a grin, for then the fun truly begins.
When the day is done, and at the end of the night, they check out their haul, and grin at it all.
Suckers and candy bars, gumballs extreme, candy of all sorts, to make kids sing.
Just remember how this all began, if you hear a bump in the night, don’t stand, just run away as planned.
For ghost don’t respect, the rights of man, on this hallows eve, run like mad.
Because, all hallows eve, is the night of the dead, and everyone should dread. © 2014 Donald |
