Congress of Cruelty

Sometime I think that the people should rise up and take back the power. Too long we have suffered under the reign of stupidity, of greed and power. But where would we be without the government.

 Do the politicians know,

the harm they do to the people,

they write laws to help business,

get fat and rich.

 

But what about the people,

they cut the funds to the poor,

eliminate programs to feed the children,

hide the homeless.

 

They live in a storybook land,

of fairies and princesses,

not in the land of reality,

for that is not where they want to be.

 

They dine off the misery of others,

listen to the liars and false prophets,

for their world is a dream world,

and not a place for reality.

 

If they were it live in the poor’s shoes,

for just a day,

perhaps then they would know the truth,

and change their ways.

 

They may claim that,

the poor choose to live like this,

and waste away in poverty,

because they are lazy.

 

Life is cruel,

for without their help,

lives are short,

and end violently.

 

They need to accept the blame,

for the actions that they take,

no one needs to die,

to make them see the lie.

 

For without the people,

where would the politician live,

what would they eat,

who would they abuse.

 

One single voice is not enough,

for them to hear the truth,

for their gods are greed and power,

not the one true god in heaven.

 

For greed is not good,

and power corrupts the very soul,

it blinds them to the truth,

and destroys us all.

 

One day it will happen,

and it may be sooner than they think,

the truth will destroy them,

then their greed with crush them in a blink.

 

Their laziness will slow them,

 their sight will deceive them,

their hearts will betray them.

And their actions will destroy them.

 

For that is the destiny of a politician,

who refuse to listen,

to those  in need,

and those in pain.
