Simplicity of Life

Do you thinks that life is moving too fast to keep pace with the human heart. Or do you believe that it has dehumanized all of us.

Many feel that life  moves too fast,

that life is too impersonal,

that life has lost all meaning,

and that it no longer has a soul.

 

For many,

it is true,

for they have lost that zest for life,

they rush back and forth,

and overlook the little things in life.

 

They constantly work to keep their families fed,

and to pay the bills,

make sure that the children are cared for,

but in the end,

they have lost the meaning of life.

 

They no longer take the time,

to enjoy the little things in life,

all the nature around them,

and how people behave.

 

They are on a quest of cash,

to fund their vacations,

and to buy their expensive toys,

or to plan out their retirement.

 

Money has become their God.

and they no longer go to church,

because they are worn out from work,

slaving for their precious earnings.

 

They cannot see what is happening to themselves,

they only watch the television,

to learn what is happening,

and look at the evil taking place.

 

To see what is happening,

you must take a step back ,

look at yourself,

and the life you live.

 

Sacrificing your values,

will not restore your conscious,

or the truth,

but you must relearn to live again.

 

It is your duty to live life,

and to  experience it firsthand,

not watch it on TV,

or listen to your neighbors.

 

Life is all the experience,

that you need to live,

it will provide you the means,

and the desire to move forward.

 

All you have to do is listen to your heart,

And let the truth in.

How true! I love the wisdom and practical counsels embedded in this poem, Donald. I wish a lot of people would realize your point. I just think the font is small, though. It makes it hard to read... Nevertheless, the message is powerful and true. Your words are a gift to this deteriorating world. Keep writing! :)

Thanks for your comments. I just liked the look of the font. But you are right. It is too small and I will use something a bit larger. I try to instill some knowledge into my poetry as well as a sense of order.
