The Storm

The Storm

A Poem by Donald
"

What happens when a storm knocks out your power. Do you just continue on. Or do you realize that something major has happen and adjust your life to survive.

"

The rain falls,

And the wind blows.

Lighting thunders throughout the heavens.

The trees are violently knocked down.

Power is knocked out.

The cold creeps slowly into the house.

Darkness comes early to the home.

People tremble for fear of the weather.

Unable to light the house or hear the news.

Daylight comes along with the cold.

Branches lie all over the ground.

Now the job begins to restore order from all the chaos.

Workers string new wire to replace the old knocked down.

Time moves slowly on those without.

Nothing to watch,

unable to cook.

For there still is no power to be had.

The day passes without improvement.

Another sunrise comes with no change.

Another day without power,

But soon it is restored,

but time was lost in the aftermath of the storm.

Time is never recovered once it is gone.

I was inspired by the storm that just hit here earlier this week.
