The New Baby

The New Baby

A Poem by Donald
"

I have never been a father. Something I wish to resolve one of these days. But I been an uncle many things. So I have seen my fair share of babies.

"

The new baby. So pink and full of life.

You wonder what their life will be like.

Will they be a doctor,

saving all the lives around them.

Or maybe a lawyer,

solving unsolvable crimes and righting the wrongs of many less fortunate.

They lay there waiting for you to pick them up and hold them just right.

The feeling of joy runs through your body as you hold them.

You can see their expectations and desires right in their eyes.

For all they need now is love and lots of it to grow up strong and proper.

Plus you guidance down the right path.

To be so polite and proper to all who know them.

And helpful and courteous.

Don’t forget loving and graceful in this time too.

From this point on you will never see them grow up in your eyes,

because they will always be daddy’s little girl.
