Rats in a Maze

Rats in a Maze

A Poem by Donald
"

Have you ever felt that you were in a rut with no way out. No matter what you did, nothing changed. Perhaps there are different locations to do or different things to try that you never thought of.

"

Did you ever feel like you were in a maze.

Someone was telling you where to go and what to do.

Whenever you made a wrong turn or a wrong choice,

you met a dead end.

At the end of your day,

you were rewarded by a peaceful dinner,

or perhaps a loving wife or husband,

whatever the case may be.

Then the next day,

you are back in the maze trying to find the right path,

the right direction.

This time you made different choices and still met the obstacles.

Forcing back on the right path,

to the right destination.

Still you blindly followed,

unwilling to try anything new.

Just like a rat in a maze,

given their cheese for finding their goal.

What if you didn’t like the cheese or the reward and wanted something different in life.

To go outside yourself and explore your surroundings.

In the worst case,

you would get lost and have to ask for direction.

At the best,

you may find something or someone better,

than the existence that you had.

You can’t just abandon an old life without consequences.

You must correct your mistakes before moving on,

then you can start your new life with no guilt or doubt of any kind.

You must have a clean past before you can start a new life.
