Down the Runway

Down the Runway

A Poem by Donald
"

This is a poem about a model's life of posture and grace, endless miles walking down a small stage. This is dedicate to my friend, Rose.

"

Walking down the runway,

confident in their stride,

the beauties just glide.

In their elegant dresses and in the beautiful attire,

they walk with confidence and posture.

Under the glaring floodlights and the flashing from the camera,

they maintain their dignity and  resolve.

To display the latest fashions from swim wear to winter attire,

they walk back and forth.

Never showing weakness and with a smile on their face,

they own this piece of real estate with wit, charm, grace and style.

They quickly change to the next outfit to be desired,

repeat their short journey down this short stage and then retire.

Again and again they continue this short trip,

every time in something fresh,

new for the public to admire.

With the last journey,

the models pause,

for their work is finally done until the next day comes.

Muscles sore and feet aching,

the model return to their quarters, to relax, unwind and sleep.

So they can start all over the next day.

This job is never easy,

to be the best,

one has to look the best.

That take time.

Applying makeup,

fixing their hair with great care.

Soon their efforts are rewarded,

by an admiring public smiling,

talking how they are filled with grace and look so fair.

With confidence and beauty they begin again to display these beautiful wares
