Heaven

Heaven

A Poem by dkbooks
"

The things we do for our children, and then they do also for us!

"

Verse 1
At the funeral of my mother,
My little son turned to me,
Tears of sorrow wet his cheeks...
He said, "Why did Grandma leave?"

I knelt beside him, kissed his hands,
Swallowed the grief of my own.
I said, "Grandma is a Princess
Who had to go back home."

Chorus
Because Heaven's like a palace
And you're summoned by the King.
You get to bask inside its glory
When the world has set you free.

Just remember that it's paradise
Made of light and love,
She's up there smiling down on us
From that somewhere up above.

Verse 2
My son grew up and married
And they had a baby girl.
So full of life and vigor,
But all ribbons and curls.

One night I watched him tuck her in,
He told a fairytale of love,
In which his Grandma was a Princess
In a castle in the clouds.

Chorus

Verse 3
One rainy night he got a call,
He rushed to where I was,
Tears of sorrow wet his face
As he spoke his words with love.

He sat beside me, kissed my hand,
Swallowed the lump inside his throat.
He said, "Mom, you are a Princess
Who needs to go back home."

Chorus
