Boiled DinnerA Poem by Debbie BarryA new nursery rhyme about the 18th Century, illustrating the poverty and food of the time, written in the style of the time.Boiled Dinner
I have a bit of flour, There’s milk here in the cup, I’ll mix them up and boil, On pudding we will sup.
I’ve a bag of green peas, I’ve oats, and scraps of meat; I’ll mix them up and boil, Good porridge we may eat.
I’ve caught me some fishes, I’ve small potatoes here; I’ll mix them up and boil, And soup will give us cheer. © 2018 Debbie BarryAuthor's Note
