Shellfish

Shellfish

A Poem by Debbie Barry
"

A new nursery rhyme about the 18th Century, illustrating the culture of the time, written in the style of the time.

"

Shellfish

Great crabs and green lobsters,

I have here to sell;

Fresh crab legs and lobsters

Will feed you quite well.

Just boil and steam ‘em,

Till their shells turn red,

Then dip ‘em in butter,

And you’ll be well fed.

Initial reactions and constructive criticism welcome. This is meant to resemble a traditional nursery rhyme. Crab and lobster were more the food of the lower classes than of the wealthy in that period, sold by street vendors.

oh at first I am drawn to it by it's tittle..thinking something like a kind of interlinking of two words 'Selfish' and 'Shellfish' in a humorous way..but it is completely different..enjoyed it more :)
really cute one
