The HuntA Poem by Debbie BarryA nursery rhyme tale that flitted into my mind in the night. It's about my cats. The Hunt
Said the tiger to the lion, “The apes are away today.” Said the lion to the tiger, “There is naught for us to play.”
Said the tiger to the lion, “Let us catch a squeaky toy.” Said the lion to the tiger, “Hunting is the greatest joy.”
So the lion and the tiger Prowl’d they silent low and high, And the tiger and the lion Found the scar’d prey, by and by.
The tiger hit the squeaker first; The lion pounc’d thereafter. If there had been an ape to see, There would have been much laughter.
The tiger and the lion play’d, And they beat their prey full sore; The lion and the tiger pounc’d, ’Til the squeaker squeak’d no more.
The apes did to their nest return, And found the toy quite dead. “What fierce hunters you kitties are!” The he-ape and she both said. © 2018 Debbie BarryAuthor's Note
