The Lonely PuffinA Poem by Debbie BarryA little nursery rhyme inspired by a plushie Porg.A fat little puffin, On a sunny winter day, Sat among the craggy rocks That bordered Baffin Bay.
The puffin gazed about to find Someone with whom to play, But he saw not another puffin On the shores of Baffin Bay.
“I will swim across the water, To seek where other puffins stay,” Said the solitary puffin, On the shore of Baffin Bay.
He swam and swam across the sea, Through all the night and day, And he left far behind him His home in Baffin Bay.
He swam into the sunrise, And at last he found at play All the Skellig-Michael puffins, And he knew that he would stay.
Now the lonely little puffin From the rocks of Baffin Bay Is a jolly Gaelic puffin, And plays with friends all day. © 2018 Debbie BarryAuthor's Note
