Contrition

Contrition

A Poem by Debbie Barry
"

A scrap of verse I wrote in the middle of the night, but also a heartfelt prayer.

"

Bless me,  Father,  for I have sinned,

I have not loved as God loves me;

I I want to love and to forgive,

So that in Heaven I may live.

Every sin I've done, I do repent;

Absolve me,  and let me penance serve,

Even though I don't deserve

The salvation that you bought me,

On the Cross on Calvary.

Amen.

It's a good prayer. Fancier than my own, but saying about the same things.
