The Man Beneath the Bridge

The Man Beneath the Bridge

A Poem by D. Jay Webb
"

My drive to work

"

The Man living beneath the Bridge

As I drive North on the highway

He stands beside it

As I drive south on the highway

He leans on the bridge sidewall

As I drive north on the highway

He is arranging his belongings

As I drive south on the highway

He is drinking water from a bottle

As I drive North on the highway

There is a woman speaking to him

As I drive south on the highway

He stands in the vacancy of traffic at the intersection

As I drive North on the highway

I am doing what I must

As I drive south on the highway

He is doing what he wants
