White Flag

White Flag

A Poem by DJuan Thomas
"

Love that has been insincere can never be anything else.

"
You've shattered peace,
now chaos demands submission
and I am so bored with conflict.

What can you offer this time?
Love that has been insincere
can never be anything else.

Now you're back with guns blazing -
shocking me out of the slow sleep of my idyll
and I have no stomach for war paint.

But my white flag sits in the corner still,
my fists tighten and I think:
There is no neutral ground,
no Switzerland for you and me.
